Bangkok, Swedish city sign sister cities agreement

BANGKOK, April 18 (TNA) - Bangkok and Ostersund, a Swedish city, have signed an agreement on becoming sister cities. The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) in the Thai capital on Friday by Pipat Lappratana, Chairman of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, and Ann-Sofi Andersson, visiting Lord Mayor of Ostersund, Jamtland State. Pipat later told journalists that the accord was signed, following frequent exchange visits to each city by officials of both sides since 2011, noting that Ostersund City had also invited Bangkok youth football players to participate in the international youth football competitions held in 2011-2013. Under the agreement, the two cities will cooperate with each other in exchanging education know-how, youth sports, tourism, cultural and city administration. Pipat acknowledged that Ostersund City is now ranked one of the three safest Swedish cities and it is also recognised as having impressive public utilities for locals, along with its high education quality and standards, as well as research activities.
