Bangkokians wish to join New Year countdown with PM

BANGKOK, December 24 (TNA) - People in Bangkok wish to join the upcoming New Year countdown with Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and plan to travel during the New Year Festival. According to a latest poll, conducted by Bangkok University, most respondents, or 44.3 of 1,207 Bangkokians questioned on the random basis, wished to count down to the New Year 2015 with the prime minister, followed by former Pheu Thai prime minister Yingluck Shinwatra (22.9 per cent) and former Democrat prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva (14.9 per cent). Asked with which actor or actress they want to join the countdown, 19 per cent mentioned Pacharapa “Aum” Chaichua, followed by Nadech Kugimiya (13.6 per cent) and Urassaya “Yaya” Sperbund (8 per cent). For what problem they want to be solved by the government first, most of the respondents, or 61 per cent, pointed to economic problems, followed by corruption (49 per cent), and social division (37.3 per cent). The Bangkok Poll also found that 68.2 per cent of the respondents planned to travel during the forthcoming New Year Festival, with 28.8 per cent to go to their home provinces for family gatherings, followed by going for vacation trips, but 31.8 per cent of them would stay home for the New Year celebrations. Asked about their favorite destination during the New Year Festival, 42 per cent of the respondents mentioned Chiang Mai, followed by Mae Hong Son (8.1 per cent) and Chiang Rai (6.9 per cent), all are northern resort Thai provinces.
