Bangkok's 2nd River Festival set on Nov 21-25

BANGKOK, November 4 (TNA) - Dozens of parties in Bankgok will jointly organize the River Festival 2015 to celebrate the Loy Krathong Festival on the longest curve of the Chao Phraya River, the second consecutive year of its kind, from November 21-25, to show off the Thai identity to the international community. The about 70 parties, including the Ministry of Culture, the Royal Thai Navy, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), have agreed to join forces in organizing the 2nd River Festival to also promote cultural tourism and present the lifestyles of the Thai people. The venue is set in the Chao Phraya River, from the Rama VIII Bridge to the riversided-Asiatique mall in the Thai capital. Besides, the River Festival is aimed to be one of Thailand's big annual events beyond the only one-day traditional Loy Krathong Festival. Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, President of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited and Chairman of the organizing panel of the River Festival, 2015, told journalists on Wednesday that the upcoming festival will cover seven important locations along the Chao Phraya River, including the Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Temple, the Temple of Dawn, the Prayurawongsawat Temple, the Kanlayanamitr Temple, Maharaj Pier, Yodpiman River Walk mall and Asiatique. Thapana said the locations will be full of activities from 4pm to 11pm throughout the five-day festival, especially the last day when there will be the rare processions of Buddha relics and Kathin robes from the Bangkok Noi Canal to the Chao Phraya River, with a stopover at the Kai Tia Temple, the Srisudaram Temple, the Suwanaram Temple and the Temple of Dawn, before the Buddha relics will be placed at the Prayurawongsawat Temple.
