BCCI hails Bahrain’s press strides

Manama, May.3 (BNA): Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) today saluted the national press strides over the past years. It paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his role in promoting the status of the fourth estate in Bahrain. It issued a statement today as Bahrain joined other nations in marking the World Press Freedom Day, being held this year under the theme "Let Journalism Thrive! Towards Better Reporting, Gender Equality, and Media Safety in the Digital Age". It lauded His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for their support. BCCI Chairman Khalid Abdulrahman Almoayyed highlighted the support of the wise leadership to promote a free, pluralistic and responsible media environment that guarantees press freedom and protects sustainable development, security and stability. He hailed Bahrain’s landmark strides ever since HM the King embarked on the National Action Charter which promoted press freedoms and strengthened the state of law and institutions. Almoayyed underscored the vital role of the fourth estate in spearheading the march of development and progress and consolidating the economic, investment and trade momentum. He also hailed the royal directives to work on promulgating a media cadre and passing a modern law on information in recognition of the vital role of the press community.
