Bhutan’s King and Queen pay respect to late Thai King

BANGKOK, Oct 16 (TNA) – King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan paid personal respects to the royal urn of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace on Sunday at 10am. The King and Queen of Bhutan arrived in Bangkok with their eight-month-old son yesterday and are scheduled to return to Bhutan tomorrow. The Bhutanese King declared Friday to be a public holiday to give people leave from work to join in Thailand’s mourning and ordered the Bhutan flags to fly at half-mast for three days. In dedication to the memory of King Bhumibol, King Khesar had commanded that special prayers be held, and butter lamps be lit in sacred temples across Bhutan. (TNA)
