Bhutanese PM to visit Thailand Nov 13-16

BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand from November 13-16, 2013 to strengthen bilateral relations and development-oriented cooperation. The forthcoming arrival of the Bhutanese Prime Minister represents the first official trip to Thailand by a Bhutanese prime minister since both countries established their diplomatic relations on November 14, 1989. On November 14, when Thailand and Bhutan celebrate the 24th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, the Bhutanese Prime Minister will have a discussion with his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra, aimed at boosting relations and cooperation of both countries as partners for development and at promoting bilateral cooperation on trade, investment tourism and academia. The Bhutanese leader and the Thai prime minister will also witness the signing of an agreement on bilateral cooperation on trade and economic affairs. On November 15, the visiting Bhutanese prime minister will attend the Bangkok Dialogue on the Rule of Law: Investing in the Rule of Law, Justice, and Security for the Post-2015 Development Agenda, as invited by Premier Yingluck, who is also Thai Defence Minister. Participants in the meeting will exchange knowledge on the rule of law, justice and their relation to sustainable development, aimed at promoting awareness on the topics locally and internationally.
