Bid to beautify Bangkok’s canal

BANGKOK, Jan 27 (TNA) - The Treasury Department has cooperated with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to beautify areas along Prem Prachakorn canal and to also improve the livelihood of residents living there. Presently, there are more than 4,700 households living in 31 communities along the 24-kilometre long canal, covering three districts in the capital. The Treasury Department gave authority to the BMA to supervise the area. The BMA has already inspected the condition of poor families and environment problems along the canal. Under the plan, water will be released from the Chao Phraya River during high tides to the canal in an attempt to improve the water condition and landscape along the canal will be beautified. Medical doctors will be dispatched to look after people’s health. (TNA)
