'Big Six' tipped to dominate women's Water Polo

Baku, June 12, AZERTAC The consensus around the pool is that the winner of the women's Water Polo tournament at Baku 2015, which starts at midday on Friday, will come from a group of six heavyweights. Some coaches are convinced that Greece, Netherlands and Hungary, who are drawn in Group A, and Spain, Italy and Russia in Group B are so far ahead that their own teams do not have much chance. Serbia's head coach Vladimir Dajkovic believes there is a gulf in class between the 'big six' and the rest in the women's under-17 category at European level. The six heavyweights will be vying to win their groups and earn direct qualification to the semi-finals, with teams ranked second playing against third-placed sides for the remaining last-four spots. Great Britain, Germany and Israel are the other Group A teams, along with favourites Greece, Netherlands and Hungary. The British aim to make the most of the opportunity to test themselves against high-profile teams."Historically from a Water Polo perspective, we come from a poor background compared to some of the top teams, where it is a professional set-up," said Great Britain's head coach Nick Buller.
