"Bike For King" organised in Bangkok May 15

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - A grand bike event will be organised in central Bangkok on May 15 in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the auspicious occasion of the 70th anniversary of the beloved Thai monarch's accession to the throne on June 9, 2016. Panya Hanlamyuang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, under the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, told journalists on Wednesday that his department will organise the "Bike For King" event on the coming Sunday, from 5:30am to 10:30am, in which more than 1,000 cyclists will participate. Panya said during the five-hour event, the participants will be cycling around the capital for a total distance of 13.7 kilometres, starting from and stopping at the National Stadium in Pathumwan area, passing through, for instance, Rama I and Rama 6 Roads, Rajadamnoen Avenue and Maharaj Road, as well as the Democracy Monument, Sanam Luang ceremonial ground, the Grand Palace and the Ministry of Defence.
