Bike lane developed in Songkhla, "Bike For Dad" prepared in all Thai areas

SONGKHLA, THAILAND, November 9 (TNA) - A bike lane has been developed for the first time in Songkhla Province in the Thai South, as the "Bike For Dad" nationwide cycling event, set on December 11, to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 88th birthday on December 5, 2015, is approaching. Somsak Tantiserani, Mayor of the Nakhon Songkhla Municipality, told journalists on Monday that his municipality has completely developed the 6.2-kilometre bike lane to promote people's physical exercises and local eco-tourism. Somsak said the first-ever bike lane in Songkhla will be marked with a special red paint to be clearly seen by cyclists and drivers. According to the mayor, other local administrative organisations in his province are also preparing spaces for bike lanes in their areas. Last week, Thai Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda instructed all provincial governors to prepare for the "Bike For Dad" cycling event nationwide and to invite people in their respective provinces to participate in the activity, while also maximizing security measures and facilities for the participating cyclists and the general public. Meanwhile, more than 248,000 people have been registered to participate in the "Bike For Dad" grand cycling event in Bangkok alone. (TNA)
