Biological father shows gesture to take care of surrogate babies

BANGKOK, September 3 (TNA) - A senior police officer says that a Japanese biological father has shown a good gesture to bring his surrogate babies in Thailand under his care. Assistant National Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Korkiart Wongworachart quoted a lawyer of the biological father as saying on Wednesday that his client would arrive to answer Thai police's questions to clarify his surrogacy issue. Police Lieutenant General Korkiart told reporters that the Japanese man made the approach possibly because he wanted to take his surrogate babies in Thailand under his care. According to the assistant national police chief, the Japanese biological father, Shigeta Mitsutoki, has told his lawyer that he now agrees to meet Thai police for the interrogation. Besides, Shigeta has sought a permission from the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to have 12 nannies to take care of his surrogate babies, now under the care of the ministry. The assistant national police chief acknowledged that Thai police have not found any wrongdoing with the case; so, they have not pressed any charge. The assistant national police chief also noted that surrogate babies the Japanese man has earlier brought out of Thailand to neighboring Cambodia are reportedly living in good conditions. Meanwhile, Dr. Pisit Tantiwatanakul, owner of All IVF surrogacy clinic in Bangkok's Ploenjit area, is scheduled for interrogation on September 6. If he failed to show up, the police would seek an arrest warrant against him. (TNA)
