BJ Habibie And Megawati To Attend Presidential Inauguration

Jakart, Oct 17 (Antara) - Speaker of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan has said two former presidents, BJ Habibie and Megawati Soekarnoputri, have confirmed their attendance in the upcoming inauguration of Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as the country`s seventh president. "Mme Megawati has confirmed her attendance, and Mr Habibie will also be present," the MPR chief said here, Thursday, after conveying the invitation to BJ Habibie in his latter`s residence. The country`s 10 political parties` factions and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) will also be represented in the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held at the parliament/MPR building, on October 20, 2014, and will be attended by outgoing president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Among foreign dignitaries to be present in the inauguration will be Brunei Darussalam`s Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah, Singapore`s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Timor Leste`s President Xanana Gusmao, Papua New Guinea`s Governor General Michael Ogio, Malaysia`s Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, Haiti`s Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot, Thailand`s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, and former prime minister of Japan and special envoy Yasuo Fukuda. The inauguration will also be attended by US Secretary of State John Kerry, New Zealand`s Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully, and the United Kingdom`s Foreign Affairs Minister William Hague. Indonesia`s Police will deploy at least 24,815 personnel to secure the inauguration ceremony of Indonesia`s seventh president, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on October 20, 2014. "Until the post-inauguration event, until (the procession is) heading to the palace, we will deploy 24,815 personnel consisting of the National Police`s operational task force," National Police Chief General Sutarman said after a coordinating meeting which was attended by Speaker of MPR Zukifli Hasan and Chief of the National Defense Forces (TNI) General Moeldoko at Parliament Building, here, Thursday. The police personnel will also guard foreign dignitaries who will attend the inauguration ceremony.
