Blood Stock In Palembang Safe Ahead Of Fasting Month

Palembang, South Sumatra, July 2 (Antara) - Blood stock in Palembang, South Sumatra, is safe ahead of fasting month because there are around 200 blood pouches at the local Red Cross (PMI) Blood Transfusion Unit. Palembang PMI Blood Transfusion Unit spokesman Anton Suwindro said here on Tuesday that blood donor activities were done regularly by the local community and government as well as private institutions. Anton said that blood donor schedule was still tight and therefore he was optimistic that there would be no blood shortage during the fasting month. He added that they appreciated the people who actively donate their blood. According to him, PMI officials everyday conduct blood donor activities at various places in the city of Palembang to anticipate blood shortage during the fasting month. "Blood donors comes not only from Palembang but also from other cities in South Sumatra," Anton said, adding that blood donor activities during the fasting month would involve the people from non Muslim community.
