BMA beefs up security measures ahead of Loy Kratong

BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) -- The Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra reiterated to all concerned agencies to beef up safety measures during the Loy Kratong Festival, as well as to carry out stricter inspections on all piers. Mr Sukhumbhand Paribatra said that he has ordered every relevant agency to increase safety measures ahead of the Loy Kratong Festival this year, as well as to carry out stricter inspections at the piers on the foot of the Rama 8 and 9 bridges, and any other piers that would become more popular for tourists and visitors during the famous Thai festivity. The governor stressed that all locations must also be informed of the capacity they could withstand, where clear signs with the exact number of capacity must be erected to increase safety for festival goers, while security forces must be mobilised into the locations, both on land and water, to provide the best safety for the public. Meanwhile, Deputy City Clerk Atthapon Suwattanadecha, had this afternoon, presided over the meeting to prepare drills and safety measures ahead of the Loy Kratong Festival, which would fall on November 25, this year.
