BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - More than 600 people underwent a training programme to become security volunteers on how to help the police provide security to the public in the Thai capital. The programme was held by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) following three bombing incidents that took place in Bangkok during the past few months. BMA deputy governor, Amnuay Nimmano presided over the opening ceremony of the programme, organised by Phra Nakhon district office at Wat Sam Phraya. Police bomb disposal experts as well as policemen instructed participants including hotel operators, motorcycle taxi drivers, community leaders, representatives from temples, schools and government officials on the safety protocols and how to report to the police when they see a suspicious object. Pol. Lt. Gen. Amnuay said the City Hall has repaired and improved closed-circuit televisions installed along Bangkok footpaths and at important buildings. A similar training session will be organised by the BMA in all 50 districts later on. (TNA)
