BMA tests four systems of tablet computers with young students

BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is testing four systems of tablet computers with young students of schools under its jurisdiction in a bid to promote education with technology, as part of Thailand's preparations for the establishment of the ASEAN Single Community by 2015. Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatrachaired an online meeting with executives, students and parents of schools under the BMA Tuesday morning, at which he insisted that Thai students need to be prepared for the formation of the Single Community of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) over the next three years, and that he supports the Thai government’s policy on distributing tablet computers to young students of Grade 1 nationwide to promote their education. The Bangkok governor proposed that the policy be expanded to students of other grades throughout the country, pointing out that good curricula are also necessary to implement the policy. The governor said the BMA is, meanwhile, testing four operating systems of tablet computers, including iPad, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Android with Grade 4 students at four primary schools under the City Authority, a system applied for a class under the pilot project.
