BMKG Monitoring 145 Hot Spots In Sumatra

Pekanbaru, Riau, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - The Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency through NOAA 18 satellite has monitored at least 145 hot spots in Sumatra, and 55 in Riau. Head of BMKG the Pekanbaru Meteorology Station Station Philip Mustamu through BMKG Prediction Coordinator of the Pekanbaru Meteorology Station Marzuki said in Pekanbaru Monday that besides Riau, the NOAA 18 satellite on January 27, 2012 also detected hot spots in several areas in other provinces like Aceh (three hot spots), North Sumatra (one), West Sumatra (one), Jambi (38), South Sumatra (24), Bengkulu (three), Lampung (three), and 16 in Bangja Belitung and another one in Riau Islands (Kepri). "But in the last two to three days, the number of hot spots may decline significantly," he said. Marzuki said after surrounded up to hundreds of hot spots, on January 28, 2012, the hot spots in Sumatra declined further to 24, and only four in Riau. "The decline in the number of hot spots also took place on January 29, 2012, where in Sumatra there are at least seven hot spots, including three in Riau," Marzuki said. Marzuki said in Riau according to NOAA 18 weather satellite, there are only two hot spots in Pelalawan regency, and another one in Kuantan Singingi regency. In the meantime, four hot spots on January 29, 2012, he said, were located in West Sumatra one, and three in Kepri. Mazuki said the number of hot spots early this week and in the next few days may increase because of the lack of rain.
