BMTA prepare for Loy Kratong festival

BANGKOK, Nov 17 (TNA) -- The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) is preparing to mobilise more public transportation and services to better provide conveniences tot the people during coming Loy Kratong Festival 2015. BMTA stated that on Loy Kratong day, which is set to fall on November 25 this year, the agency has planned to provide full services of public transportation, where around 2,671 buses would be running during the morning shift, 1,275 in the afternoon shift, and 98 buses for overnight shift, totaling 21,230 trips on the festival day. Moreover, the BMTA would increase the number of employees in each shift in order for the buses to be rotated more frequently in time for the night shift, so as to provide more conveniences and services to the public who had decided to join in with the celebrations around the Thai capital, Bangkok. Bus services to 29 parks scheduled to hold celebrations for the festival would also be extended until midnight on Loy Kratong, and safety measures would be beefed to prevent high risk of road accidents, as the bus drivers and employees would undergo strictly alcohol checkups and inspection of driving license. An extra force of the special patrol units would also be mobilised at various important locations along each route to provide security and services as well. (TNA)
