BNN Destroys Over Three Thousand Grams Of Meth From China

Jakarta, Jan 16 (Antara) - The National Anti Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Wednesday destroyed 3,105.1 grams of methamphetamine with suspects twin brothers and a smuggler from Guangzhou, China. The BNN said in a written statement on Wednesday that the twin brothers were identified by their initials as DHO and DHI who owned 2,097.2 grams of meth. Another man with initial ZH from Guanzhou was in possession of 1,050.4 grams. BNN officials set aside 42.5 grams of the meth for further examinations at laboratories and as evidence at court. They were arrested in Bogor, West Java, on December 17, 2013, after police obtained a tip from the public about a narcotics ring in the area. The illegal drug network was organized by the twin brothers DHO and DHI (28) residents of Taman Cibalagung Indang, Pasir Jaya, Bogor. The network involves other youths. Other suspects who were also arrested were MSL (23), DC (23) and EY (35). In the meantime, the Indonesian National Police disclosed 32,470 narcotics cases in 2013, up by 22.25 percent from last year`s cases which were recorded at 26,561, stated National Police Chief General Sutarman. "The drug cases uncovered by the police in 2013 increased by 22.25 percent from that in 2012," stated General Sutarman in press release, here on Friday. The drug cases in 2013 included 19,362 narcotics cases, up by 9.38 percent from the previous year`s 17,702 cases. There were 1,485 psychotropic narcotics cases, down by 7.48 percent from 1,605 cases in 2012. He noted that the police also disclosed 11,623 cases of hazardous substance, up by 60.23 percent from 7,254 cases in 2012. That apart, the police also arrested 40,057 narcotics suspects. "Compared to last year when the police nabbed 32,892 suspects, the 2013 figure have shown an increase of 21.78 percent," the police chief pointed out. Early this month, the BNN arrested an Indonesian woman, involved in the smuggling of methamphetamine and heroine to Indonesia from Malaysia. The suspect was charged with smuggling a total of 4.5 kilograms of heroine and 1.6 kilograms of methamphetamine four times. BNN and police are still chasing after a Nigerian suspected of the big boss of the dealers using Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia to smuggle narcotics to Indonesia via Batam. Also, an anti drug police unit nabbed a Malaysian identified as MA charged with drug trafficking in Batam. MA (34) was arrested at a hotel in the Nagoya area in possession of narcotics known as Ketamine or Key, a Batam police spokesman Comr. Boy Herlambang said. Police succeeded in arresting the drug dealer with 992 grams of ketamine after secretly following him by an officer pretending as a buyer, Boy said. "The officer showed Rp400 million to convince MA that he wanted to buy the illicit drug," he added. Ketamine is a synthetic narcotic of third category, a depressant unlike psychotropic, which is an anti-depressant, he said, adding it is a white crystal, known among the dealers and users as "key".
