Body of Thai worker killed in Gaza Strip to arrive home July 28

BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - The body of a Thai worker who was killed earlier this week by a rocket fired from Gaza Strip into an Israeli border area will be flown home next Monday. A sister of the 36-year-old victim, Narakorn Kittiyangkul, told reporters on Friday that she was informed by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Consular Affairs that the body of his brother would be flown to Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport on July 28. The victim's sister said the state would then provide a van to transport his brother's body to Pua District of Nan Province in the Thai North, his hometown, where a Hmong religious rite would be performed. The victim's sister revealed that the Department of Consular Affairs had informed her that the Israeli government would pay for compensation. The dead Thai worker's sister, meanwhile, called for both the Israeli and the Thai governments to take good care of Thai workers and prohibit them from working in violence-prone areas, while those wishing to return to Thailand on concerns over their safety would be sent back and those killed or injuried would receive compensation and those wanting to continue working in Israel should be moved to safe areas. Fighting between Israeli and Hamas forces, erupted on July 8, has continued, killing about 700 victims and injuring more than 4,000 others, most of them are Palestinian civilians living in Gaza Strip and its vicinity.
