Bolivia ratified civilian nuclear agreement with Russia

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. The Bolivian Chamber of Deputies ratified the agreement with the Russian government on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, the Chamber said on Thursday on its official website. Cooperation will take place in the field of assisting in establishment and development of the nuclear power industry infrastructure, design and construction of nuclear research reactors. Furthermore, Russia and Bolivia intend to cooperate in exploration of Bolivia’s mineral resource base for the nuclear industry development and uranium deposits prospecting. TASS reported earlier Russia and Bolivia have signed intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in the area of peaceful use of nuclear energy and on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear research and technology center in the city of El Alto at an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level on March 6. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Russian state-owned nuclear power corporation Rosatom. Read more
