Bombing and shooting continues in Thailand's deep South

NARATHIWAT (THAILAND), September 30 (TNA) - At least twenty-three people were injured in Saturday’s grenade attack on a fairground in Narathiwat’s Bacho district, Thailand. Police said suspected insurgents had fired M79 grenades from behind Bacho police station, about 300 metres away from the crowd. By early Sunday, four of the victims remain in serious condition. Police said they believed the intended target was a nearby security post by the entrance of the Bacho district headquarters. In other reports, a roadside attack also occurred in Yala province, where unidentified gunmen shot at a woman and her daughter in Krong Penang district. Authorities also reported another incident, in which an unidentified 18-year-old man was found dead next to his motorbike on a road in Yala’s Yaha district. (TNA)
