Book on Persian poets released in Turkey

Ankara, Nov 11, IRNA – The Iranian cultural attaché office in Erzurum, Turkey, has published a book on Persian-language poets in the Ottoman era. The work, by Dr. Veyis Değirmençay, is penned in a volume with two chapters. The 790 pages book includes the works of over 800 poets. The book, which is indeed a literary reference for history and literature researchers, holds history of literary activities of Anatolia’s Persian poetry, according to the Iranian cultural attaché office. Since the beginning of the Ghaznavid dynasty, the Turk powers were drawn to Persian language and literature which enhanced during the House of Seljuk. As the Seljuk Empire expanded in Anatolia, literature also developed in further regions. Then during the Ottoman era and even in the times of the Republic of Turkey, several writers and poets were attracted, some of whom were Persian-language figures and some learned it later and penned several Persian works./end
