Boom in German soccer jersey sales benefiting Thai manufactures

BANGKOK, July 20 (TNA) - Thai manufactures are benefiting from a boom is sales of jersey of German soccer team following its World Cup 2014’s victory in Brazil, said Sujitra Tanomsup, director of Thai Trade Promotion Centre in Frankfurt. Sujitra told journalists on Sunday that sales of old German soccer shirts bearing three stars German’s three world cup wins were good prior to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil and were offered at discounted prices just before the tournament ended. But sales picked up sharply again after the German national team won the match against Argentina on July 13, securing the fourth World Cup win, she said. The first lot of hundred thousands of new German jersey bearing four stars, manufactured in Thailand, was sold out by July 14 in Germany, said Sujitra, adding that ‘Adidas’, the sportswear giant that sponsors German national team, has ordered the new, second lot of jerseys from Thai manufactures, which will be available on the German market on August 8. Sujitra said the manager of Frankfurt Stock Exchange gave an interview to a local radio on July 14, saying that the victory by German soccer team would boost private spending while deposit interest rates offered by the European Union which are on the decline would prompt the German people to spend more. She said more German people are in a celebratory mood, they are expected to spend more and dine out more often and Thai restaurants in the country should also benefit it. (TNA)
