BRICS foreign ministers meeting planned for mid-September in New York

MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of the BRICS group states (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will hold a meeting in New York in mid-September, Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador at large Vadim Lukov said on Wednesday. According to Lukov, who is Russia’s sous-sherpa in the group, priorities of Russia’s presidency in BRICS will be discussed within the Foreign Ministries’ interaction channels, as well as at a meeting of the BRICS high representatives on national security. "This meeting is planned for late May," the diplomat said. "The BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting is scheduled for mid-September in New York. This is a traditional venue and time for such meetings,’ Lukov said. "We plan to pay particular attention to the problems of the Middle East and North Africa," the diplomat said. "They are a scourge spreading terrorism and drugs." "We offer to hold a meeting of deputy foreign ministers in Moscow on this subject in April-May," Lukov said. Read more
