BRICS Forum resolution emphasizes consensus on key issues - Kosachev

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The final document of the First BRICS Parliamentary Forum has emphasized the unanimity of positions of its participants on the key international issues, one of the document’s authors, head of the Federation Council International Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev told the forum. "We have reached the main result in our work - the First BRICS Parliamentary Forum stood united behind the unified document, the unified text and thus records the thoughts, ideas and proposals that have been made in the speeches of the forum participants," the senator noted. According to Kosachev, one of the key features of the final document was its emphasis on "the significant role of the parliaments of the BRICS member-countries in addressing the pressing issues of concern to the international community," and also the willingness of lawmakers of the five countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to make the BRICS forum "a tool of cooperation on the key issues of global politics." The participants also emphasized their "unanimity in the need to preserve the results of the Victory in World War Two, the just world order based on the UN Charter," Kosachev said. He added that at the request of the delegations of China, India, Brazil and South Africa the document included words of gratitude to Russia’s parliament, the Federal Assembly, "for holding the First BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Moscow and for the hospitality offered to its participants." Earlier on Monday, speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin also said that the participants in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum had found a common language. "Our countries have different political traditions, we have different national legal systems, but we do find a common language, and the final document of the Parliamentary Forum we have just adopted testifies to that. I am very grateful to all of you," the parliamentarian said. Read more
