BRICS parliamentary forum to take place in Moscow on June 8 - Russian lawmaker

MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. BRICS parliamentary forum will take place on June 8 in Moscow, chairman of Federation Council’s Sub-Committee on Cooperation with BRICS Andrey Klimov said on Monday. BRICS is an association of five major emerging national economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. "Apart from cooperation in international committees, the Russian Federation this year suggests to think about a possibility of a so-called parliamentary direction in the work of BRICS countries. We hope that issues of promising cooperation at the parliamentary level will be discussed," Klimov said. Inter-parliamentary cooperation with BRICS countries has strategic importance for Russia, the lawmaker said. For the first time in the history of the Federation Council, a sub-committee was established in the framework of the International Affairs Committee. The sub-committee deals exclusively with coordinating cooperation with parliaments of India, China, Brazil and South Africa. Read more
