Brisbane filmfest to experience “Growing in the Wind”

TEHRAN,Oct.3(MNA) -- The Iranian movie “Growing in the Wind” will by trying its luck at the 22nd Brisbane International Film Festival, which will be held from November 13 to 24, the producer announced on Wednesday. The film is about Aslan, a top student who divides his life between school and tending to his father’s herds. While he recognizes that education will offer a path towards a more rewarding life, Aslan is torn by the obligations he feels to his father and the rich traditions that have shaped his family for generations. Aslan is then pressured into mentoring an older man whose desire to be a good shepherd has more to do with getting closer to Aslan’s sister. “Due to its cultural atmosphere and ethnographic aspect, the film has been warmly welcomed by people in other countries,” Hassan Amjadi-Moqaddam told. Director/writer Rahbar Qanbari won a Golden Butterfly for Best Screenwriter Award for “Growing in the Wind” at the 26th International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults in Isfahan in October 2012. The film was also screened at the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam in October 2012 and the Gijon International Film Festival in Spain in November.
