British Defense Minister: London Would Send Heavy Weapons To Kurdistan To Fight( IS)

BAGHDAD / NINA / British Defense Minister, Michael Fallon said that "the British government would send heavy machine guns and ammunition to Kurdish forces in the Kurdistan region, amounting to about two million Euros to combat gangs of the Islamic State." Some western media quoted Fallon as saying in a statement addressed to the British Parliament that "the heavy machine guns and ammunition will reach Iraq on Wednesday ." The British newspaper (The Times ) confirmed that London agreed to support the Peshmerga forces in its fight against the Islamic State organization. The newspaper reported that "Britain is ready to arm the Peshmerga forces battling the elements of (IS)." The newspaper also quoted British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond as telling his counterparts in the European Union that the British government has adjusted its position in favor of arming the Peshmerga.
