Bt450m drugs seized at JJ market

BANGKOK, May 18 (TNA) - Thai immigration police raided a Hmong clothes shop in Bangkok's famous weekend market, Chatuchak or JJ market, on Saturday, after they were informed that a network of Hmong people had smuggled drugs into the Thai Kingdom through the northern region, by hiding it inside a van of hill tribes traditional clothes and later hid the items inside the clothing store. The police found 1.45 million methamphetamine pills and 8 kilogrammes of ice methamphetamine, or ice meth, worth over 450 million baht, as well as arrested ex-Air Force Private PanyaWangtrakul, 25, Mr. KasamaJaroenman, 33, and Mr. AnuchonLaojang, 20. After interrogating the suspects, the police learned that all three suspects were to deliver the drugs to a client on Friday, but the client failed to turn up and so they have decided to rearrange for a new meeting today. Private Punya is hired for 100,000 baht, while the other two suspects were paid 40,000 baht each to smuggle the drugs. The police believes the suspects have been doing this as a business, and has primarily charged them with possession of drugs. (TNA)
