Burning Iran's Fuel Ship’s Fire Extinguished Off Bandar Abbas Port

Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Prov, July 8, IRNA -- Naval Affairs Deputy of Hormozgan Shipping and Ports Office Mahdi Noufarasti said here Monday Iranian Mir Mohanna Ship, carrying mill liters of fuel which had caught fire earlier Sunday, was successfully extinguished Sunday evening. ˈTimely presence of Hormozgan Shipping and Ports inquiry and rescue team and their rapid reaction led to the effective containment of the fire”, said Noufarasti in an interview with IRNA in Iran’s southern Bandar Abbas port city. He added, “The fuel distribution ship which was carrying one million liters of fuel caught fire after it passed under the Command Bridge of Bandar Abbas Port and immediately after receiving the news of the fire hazard the Hormozgan Shipping and Ports Office’s inquiry and rescue boats, as well as the Martyr Raja’ie Port Fire Department boats were dispatched to the fire incident site. Noufarasti reiterated, “The dispatched groups acted rapidly and quite in time and prevented catching fire of the sound parts of the ship, thus saving the region from a serious environment pollution hazard, as well as loss of life of the ship’s captain and sailors.” According to the official, the Mir Mohanna Ship’s eight sailors and captain were all transferred safe and sound by the rescue teams and saved from death./end
