Bus services to flood-hit Thai South suspended

BANGKOK, January 5 (TNA) - The Transport Co., Ltd., under the Ministry of Transport, has temporarily suspended its inter-provincial bus service in flood-ravaged areas in the Thai South until vehicles are passable. The government-run inter-provincial bus service has been halted on six routes from Bangkok to Thung Song and Chian Yai in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Betong in Yala Province, Sungai Golok in Narathiwat Province and Satun Province, as well as Dan Nok, Hat Yai and Padang Besar in Songkhla Province. Transport Co.,Ltd. Acting General Manager Police General Amnart An-artngam told journalists on Thursday that several main and minor roads in the Thai South have been inundated and are impassable, forcing his company's inter-provincial buses to have temporarily suspended their service in the heavily-flooded areas. Besides, four short inter-provincial routes from Hat Yai to Chumphon and Surat Thani Provinces, as well as Thung Song in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province have been suspended until a further notice.
