Bus services transfer to electronic system

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Beginning from this July 24, the passengers to commute by buses have to buy electronic cards from nearby kiosks at bus stations. The card costs 3,600 MNT. The opening of the new system was celebrated Friday at the Chingis Square, attended by the Mayor E.Bat-Uul, the S.Korean Ambassador to Mongolia Oh Song, CEO of the Korea Smart Card Corporation Choi Daesung and the director Tenuun Ogoo LLC A.Gankhuyag. The officials say that a flexible policy is needed to have people used to the new system. As for those who have not bought the cards yet, they can put cash in the cash-box, set next to the card registry. Avoiding paying cash and falsification of cards are some of the problems expected, say the officials. These will be watched by the bus conducters. The authorities estimate that it will require 1.5-year for the system adaptation.
