Strasbourg, Oct. 9 (BNA): Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP) Michele Alliot-Marie received here today the Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, and exchanged with him views on a number of regional and global issues, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East region. The meeting focused on ways to bolster relations between the kingdom and the European Parliament (EP) and its specialised committees, including DARP. Michele Alliot-Marie welcomed the invitation to visit the kingdom extended to her by the Cabinet Affairs Minister, pledging that she will visit Bahrain as soon as possible. She expressed satisfaction over the advanced level of EP-Bahrain relations, lauding the kingdom’s support to international efforts to combat terrorism, and effective contributions to promoting global peace. Dr. Al-Mutawa affirmed the kingdom’s keenness on enhancing cooperation with the EP’s various committees, out of its desire to back all efforts aiming to achieve regional and global stability and peace, on the one hand, and improve GCC-European relations. The minister praised the efforts exerted by the EP’s Delegation for Relations with the Arab Peninsula to create new horizons of constructive and fruitful rapprochement, and consolidate the existing partnership.
