Cabinet approves Bt522m budget for development plans in Lower Thai North

BANGKOK, June 10 (TNA) - The Cabinet has agreed to spend 522 million baht on 11 new infrastructure development projects in the Lower Thai North, covering Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Nakhon Sawan and Uthai Thani. Deputy Government Spokeswoman Sunisa Lertpakawat told journalists that the Cabinet approved the budget at its mobile meeting in Kamphaeng Phet on Monday. Of the sum, Sunisa acknowledged, 102 million baht will go to tourism promotion, road improvement, an ASEAN learning center and dam construction in Kamphaeng Phet, 100 million baht will fund public utility improvement in Phichit, 105 million baht will support fish product development, pumping station and flood prevention projects in Nakhon Sawan and 100 million baht will pay for reservoirs, canal dredging and road expansion in Uthai Thani. The deputy government spokeswoman said that the Cabinet also agreed with investment projects worth 1.5 billion baht, proposed by the joint public-private consultative committee, and ordered relevant agencies to allocate budgets when the projects are completely studied. Meanwhile, Government Spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi told a press conference that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra ordered authorities in the four lower northern Thai provinces to jointly develop projects concerning transport, agricultural processing, tourist destination improvement and water management.
