Cabinet condemns Sitra terror blast, praises supportive stances

Manama, Aug. 3 (BNA): The cabinet has condemned the heinous terror blast which targeted Sitra, and led to the martyrdom of two on-duty policemen.Chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at the Gudaibiya Palace today, the session offered deepest condolences to the families of the bereaved, and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest their souls in eternal peace, grant their relatives fortitude and patience and bless the injured with speedy recovery. In a statement following the session, the Secretary-General of the Cabinet Dr. Yaser bin Essa Al-Nasser said the cabinet considered the perpetrators, those who incited their action or provided them with any kind of support or assistance as essential partners in the terror crime, urging the competent authorities to quickly finalise the necessary security procedures to bring the criminals to justice to get their comeuppance, and enforce measures that achieve prompt justice and deter terrorism. The session called for adopting unified stances and rallying behind the leadership as the best way to fend off sedition and foil the attempts of tendentious sides to subvert the kingdom’s security and stability. Such terror acts will not impede the government’s efforts to enhance development that benefits the nation and the citizens, nor will they affect its tireless work to maintain the kingdom’s status as a secure and stable nation under its leadership, said the cabinet. The session emphasised that acts of terrorism are rejected by all divine religions, and represent a flagrant infringement on human sanctities, rights and conventions. HRH the Prime Minister extended sincere thanks and appreciation to the Bahraini people, all components and organisations of the Bahraini society, as well as brotherly and friendly countries, and regional and international organisations which strongly denounced and condemned the criminal attack in Sitra, and backed the measures the kingdom deems necessary to safeguard its security and stability. In this regard, HRH the Premier underlined the need to continue dealing with terror groups and organisations relentlessly and firmly, especially amid the dangerous shift in their tactics. He issued instructions to take all necessary security measures to protect the nation and the citizens from the acts committed by misguided groups that have put aside all human and civilisational values and resorted to terrorism to temper with lives and property in order to serve agendas aimed at destabilising the nation and fuel sedition. HRH Premier issued directives to the Ministry of Information Affairs to follow up the coverage of local and foreign Press and media outlets of the kingdom’s issues and events. The ministry was also requested to coordinate with ministries and state departments to ensure mass media receive information from credible official sources as well as project the real image of the development and progress boom currently witnessed by the kingdom in all fields thanks to the government’s efforts. The cabinet referred the consolidated final account of the Future Generations Reserve Fund for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2014, to the legislative branch after it had been audited by the National Audit Office, as required by the constitution and the law. The session approved the kingdom’s signing of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) with the USA, and authorised the competent sides to take the necessary procedures. The cabinet referred the Sunset Hills project to the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure to study it within the stalled projects and take the necessary procedures. The session also discussed and approved the draft government’s replies prepared by the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs on four proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives. They include the housing project in Arad, relief aid to the Yemeni people, the construction of two youth centres in Arad and the establishment of a sports club in Hamad Town.
