Cambodians return to Thailand after Songkran holidays

BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) - Shrugging off worries over an ongoing border dispute with Thailand, Cambodian workers on Wednesday crossed the Thai eastern border province of Chanthaburi to resume work after a long holiday celebrating Songkran festival, Thailand’s traditional New Year. Sombat Chungtrakul, vice chairman of the Thai-Cambodian Border Traders and Tourism Association, said the scene of border crossing was much more active than the past four days. At the key Thai border district of Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaeo Province, thousands of Cambodian vendors and workers had returned to Thailand, the majority saying they were not at all worried about the world court border dispute. Meanwhile, a group of activists who were preparing to enter the disputed border area called off plans on Wednesday afternoon after being told the area was sealed off by authorities. (TNA)
