Canadian business community interested in cooperation with EAEU

OTTAWA, April 22. /TASS/. Canadian businesses are interested in cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), regional director (Ottawa and Montreal) of the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA) Sebastien Dakin told TASS on Tuesday. He said that the association would hold a seminar in Montreal (Quebec province) on May 1 at which the ambassadors of the four EAEU countries - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia will speak. They will express their detailed view to the Canadian business community of the possible future cooperation between the Canadian businesses and EAEU, as well as will tell them about the rules of the new organisation’s work. The EAEU will certainly develop into an influential trade organisation that will bring together more than 180 million consumers. CERBA is glad to welcome the ambassadors of four EAEU member countries at the forum, Dakin said. The information presented by the guests at the seminar will certainly be useful to Canadian companies wishing to do business in that region, he said. "The Eurasian Economic Union was launched on January 1, 2015. This opens up new prospects for cooperation with Canadian businesses, as the forum participants are forming a common customs space, introducing single technical standards, which also opens new opportunities for investors," agriculture adviser at the Russian embassy in Ottawa Sergei Strokov told TASS. "As this seminar we will continue our contacts with Canadian businesses. In March, Russian Ambassador to Canada Alexander Darchiyev held negotiations with the country’s business community in Toronto (Ontario province), and now will hold them in the Quebec province. This shows that Russia is open for dialogue with all who wants to communicate with us," the diplomat said. Read more
