Caretaker government allowed to use Thai air force areas from time to time

BANGKOK, January 22 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Air Force has given the green light for the caretaker government to use its areas from time to time. Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Prajin Jantong confirmed on Thursday, after a meeting of the Defence Council, that the Royal Thai Air Force is willing to let the caretaker government hold meetings at times in its compound. Air Chief Marshal Prajin told journalists that the Royal Thai Air Force, however, is not convenient to accommodate the caretaker government-run Center for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO), which has been set up in place of the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) after the caretaker administration announced the imposition of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations in Bangkok and some areas in peripheral provinces on January 21. According to air force chief, the Royal Thai Armed Forces understand the situation of the caretaker government and its decision to exercise the emergency decree and support its intention not to crack down on anti-government protesters. The air force chief acknowledged representatives of the Royal Thai Armed Forces informed Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinwatra at the Defence Council's meeting earler in the day that they have difficulties in obtaining their budgets amid anti-government demonstrations currently. But the air force chief affirmed that relations between the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the caretaker prime minister remain sound. (TNA)
