Caretaker PM inspects transport systems in Thai North

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, December 26 (TNA) - Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra inspected transport systems in Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North, her hometown, on Thursday, which are part of her administration's 2.2-trillion-baht infrastructure development plans. Accompanied by Caretaker Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt, Yingluck visited the Office of Chiang Mai Highway District 3 in Mae Rim District to inspect an underpass project and then visited Chiang Mai Airport. Yingluck said Chiang Mai is a modeled development city to welcome international tourists, especially during the New Year festival, and long-term development plans have been, thus, laid out to facilitate provincial traffic flows and those in adjacent provinces. Yingluck noted that a local transport network project is being developed in order to connect Chiang Mai with nearby provinces, under her administration's 2.2-trillion-baht infrastructure development plans, including the improvement of road surface and road extension to better serve international visitors The caretaker prime minister later went to the Mae Taeng Project site and a provincial elephant calf training center. In Bangkok, protesters of the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) moved to the caretaker prime minister's residence on Yothin Pattana 3 Road, vowing to rally in front of the place from noon until 6pm to pressure for her resignation from her caretaker role.
