Caretaker PM is in Thai Northeast

SURIN, THAILAND, December 18 (TNA) - Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is visiting the Thai Northeast to follow up progress of her government's projects. Accompanied by her entourage, Yingluck visited Surin Province on Wednesday morning to inspect progress on the development of Surin Pakdee Airport, a Thai military airport being transformed into a commercial one in accordance with a Cabinet resolution in July 2013. The caretaker Thai premier then took a special train to Si Sa Ket Railway Station to inspect the Lower Northeast rail system, following an agreement between Thailand and Laos to build a rail route connecting the Thai northeastern Ubon Ratchathani Province with Pakse, the capital of Laos' southern Champasak Province, to facilitate trade and tourism promotion between the two neighbouring countries.(TNA)
