Carnegie Mellon Qatar Celebrates 10th Anniversary Tomorrow

Doha, March 17 (QNA) - Carnegie Mellon University celebrates the 10-year anniversary of its Qatar branch tomorrow at an official anniversary event, the university said today. The event will highlight the university's achievements over the decade. Top leadership from CMU and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, alumni, students, faculty and staff will attend event at the university's campus in Education City. CMU President Subra Suresh says, "This campus creates living connections among faculty, students, and graduates across CMU's global network, sharing research projects, classes, and outreach activities. "The students and faculty embrace CMU's interdisciplinary collaborative approach to problem-solving. They enrich our entire university with new ideas, new ways of thinking, and an obvious passion for learning." To date, 300 young men and women passed from the university. CMU-Q Dean Ilker Baybars says quality rather than quantity measures success. "Besides educating students, we must also create the next generation of researchers, entrepreneurs, leaders and problem solvers," he says. Qatar Foundation and CMU-Q partnership continues to thrive. The university's goals align closely with QF's vision and mission. QF President Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi says, "QF dreamed of building a center of academic and research excellence for the country and the world; to build bridges across continents and cultures, and bring internationally established teaching and research institutions here. "We turned this dream into a reality, brick by brick. Through hard work, dedication and the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, our partnership with CMU-Q shows great results and grows from strength to strength."
