Celebrations mark 233rd anniversary of Rattanakosin era

BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) - Five-day celebrations are being held at Bangkok’s Sanam Luang, to mark the 233rd Anniversary of the Rattanakosin Era, which falls on this Tuesday. Culture Minister Veera Rojpojanarat on Saturday presided over the opening of the fair, which will run to Tuesday.The exhibitions are on display to show loyalty and gratitude to the Chakri dynasty for founding Bangkok. Mr. Veera said the celebrations are not only aimed at creating fun but also building unity among Thai people. Among the highlights are cultural shows from Ayutthaya to Rattanakosin periods and the kite festival, showing the fight between Chula and Pakpao kites. The biggest- ever Khon mask dance will be performed on Tuesday. (TNA)
