Celebrities to be summoned for reviews of illegal products

BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) - Police will issue summons for 56 celebrities and net idols for questioning for their reviews of unlicensed food supplements and cosmetics under the Magic Skin brand. Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Wirachai Songmetta said investigators will question the celebrities, being paid for glowing reviews of illegal beauty products after executive of Magic Skin Co were arrested for fraud and using false registered numbers and fake Food and Drug Administration (FDA) certificates on the product labels. These celebrities, involved in promotion of the products could be guilty of convincing or exaggerating claims while they will be considered case by case. This afternoon, investigators brought Wannapa and her husband Korn Puangson, owner of the company for the court approval to detain suspects and deny bail. Their lawyers submitted bail request with 500,000 baht for each person. The court granted bail but they are banned from leaving the country. However, investigators seek their further detention for more charges as the cases are involved many products. The lawyers submitted additional 2.5 million baht for their bail applications and the process is under the court’s consideration. Meanwhile, a customer of the Magic Skin product told Thai News Agency that she suffered allergies after using one of the Magic Skin products and lodged her complaint to a famous Facebook page and to the police. One of eight suspects, arrested by the police raided her house and threatened to harm her, she said. - (TNA)
