TEHRAN,June 30(MNA) -- Shahpasand Hosseini, a main character of the best-selling war memoir “Da”, passed away at her home in Tehran on Saturday. She was 81. She was the mother of Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini, the narrator of “Da”, which was transcribed and edited by Seyyedeh Azam Hosseini. “Da”, the memoirs of Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini about the capture of Khorramshahr by the Iraqi forces in the early days the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, was published for the first time in 2007. Due to her mother’s key role in her life, Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini entitled her memoirs “Da”, which means ‘mother’ in the Kurdish language. She also dedicated the book to her mother. The book went straight to number one on Iran’s 2008 best-seller list. The 137th edition of the book was published in 2011. An English version of the book has recently been published by Mazda Publishers under the title of “One Woman’s War: Da (Mother)”.
