Cheong Kang Min To Represent Malaysia At ASEAN Quiz Competition In Laos

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 27 (Bernama) -- Cheong Kang Min booked a slot to represent Malaysia at the regional ASEAN Quiz Competition in Laos in August after winning the ASEAN Quiz Competition held here, Thursday. The 16-year-old secondary school student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Methodist Sibu, in east Malaysian state Sarawak, said with the encouragement and support of teachers, she began to prepare for the quiz. "I read a lot of information on ASEAN affairs provided by teachers at the school. I also sought the views of friends, including my seniors," she told reporters after the 2016 national level Asean Quiz reception held at the Ministry of Communication & Multimedia Complex, here Thursday. Apart from Cheong, two other students who will represent Malaysia at the ASEAN Quiz Competition in Laos are Mohd Rizq Roslan and Ross Theodoric Vincent who are also secondary school students of SMK Mat Salleh, Ranau in another east Malaysian state, Sabah. The three winners were selected after obtaining the highest score in the quiz competition held on Thursday. Communications and Multimedia Ministry Deputy Secretary General (Policy) Mohid Mohamed presented prizes and certificates to 20 participants with the highest score in the ASEAN Quiz online competition themed 'Turning Vision Into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community' held from April 1 to April 30. --BERNAMA
