Chiang Mai Zoo welcomes new-born red kangaroo

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, February 8 (TNA) - Chiang Mai Zoo in the Thai North has been, again, successful in breeding fauna species, a rare red kangaroo newborn, raising the number of its red kangaroos to four so far. Chiang Mai Zoo Director Niphon Wichairat told journalists on February 7 that it remains unknown whether the red kangaroo newborn is male or female, as its mother has not allowed veterinarians to take a close look, but both mother and the cub are healthy. Niphon said the three-year-old kangaroo mother, named Pakkad, gave birth to the red kangaroo baby in July 2016, the second cub born to this mother. The zoo director invited international visitors to take a look the cute red kangaroo newborn by themselves. Red kangaroo is a mammal, about 75-140 centimeters high and weighs about 17-85 kilograms each, with its average lifespan recorded about 12-18 years. Red kangaroo can normally jump as far as two meters and can kick with its hind legs. (TNA)
