Children’s Day stamp produced under ASEAN theme

BANGKOK, January 11 (TNA) - Thailand Post will first introduce the country's longest-ever stamp, themed ASEAN, on the National Children’s Day 2013, which falls on January 12. Parisa Pananon, Thailand Post's Marketing Communication Department Manager, told reporters on Friday that the stamp shows children dressed in national costumes of 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with their national flags on top. Parisa said that the introduction of the stamp marks the 130th anniversary of Thailand's production of stamps, in the lead-up to the formation of the ASEAN Community by 2015. The 700,000-unit collection of the 124 millimeter-long special stamp also features the National Children’s Day 2013 motto, presented by Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, which says “Uphold Discipline, Enhance Knowledge and Bring Thailand towards ASEAN". The stamp will be on sales from the National Children’s Day 2013, or January 12, onwards, priced at five baht each. On the occasion of the National Children’s Day 2013, Thailand Post will set up a booth at Bangkok's Government House where 1,000 sets of the special stamp will be sold as a token for participating youths. There is also a free interactive service, through which photo shoots will be provided for children dressed in ASEAN national costumes and the photos will then be printed on stamps for real use.(TNA)
