Children’s writers team up to simplify Shahnameh stories

TEHRAN,Jan.20(MNA) -- Writers Jamaleddin Ekrami and Mohammadreza Yusefi have joined up to simplify the Shahnameh, the epic masterpiece of Persian poet Ferdowsi, for children. The work will be simplified in a 100-volume collection, which will be published by Kanun Adabiat, Ekrami said in a press release on Saturday. Forty-eight illustrators will work on the collection under the supervision of Behzad Gharibpur, he added. Thirty volumes of the collection are scheduled to be published in two months. A prolific author, Ekrami has recently completed “The Train from the East in the Chocolate Fish Station”, a satirical novel about the rivalry between a chocolate production company and a toy production company to gain children’s satisfaction. He is currently working on a novel that will explore the battle between Sassanid king Shapur and Roman emperor Valerian in 260. Entitled “Close Your Eyes Valerianus”, the book will be published by Ofoq.
