Chilean President visits Thailand Oct 4-5

BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - Chilean President Sebastián Piñera will pay his official visit to Thailand as the guest of the Thai government from October 4-5 before he attends the 21st APEC CEO Summit in Bali, Indonesia. It will be the first visit of a Chilean president to Thailand after both countries started their diplomatic relations in 1963. Thailand will be the only destination of the Chilean president in Southeast Asia before he attends the 21st APEC CEO Summit in Bali. During his two-day stay in Thailand, the Chilean president will meet Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to discuss the promotion of bilateral relations, trade and cooperation for mutual development. The Chilean president and the Thai prime minister will then witness the signing of the Thai-Chilean Free Trade Agreement (FTA), representing the first FTA pact between Thailand and a Latin American country. There will also be the signing of a tripartite academic agreement and the letter of intent on astronomic cooperation. The Chilean president will also meet Thai business operators to boost relations between the private sectors of both countries. (TNA)
